Commissioned by Pleijsier Bouw, Voortman Steel Construction helped build a modern distribution center for Rivièra Maison in the port area of Amsterdam. Since Rivièra Maison is experiencing strong growth, both at home and abroad, there was an urgent need to expand. The new distribution center at Kaapstadweg was designed by Mies Architectuur and is equipped with an automated warehouse to supply the retail with stock. The new building has a total area of over 18,000 m2.
To allow Rivièra Maison to move into its new accommodation as quickly as possible, a short construction time was more than desirable. Achieving a high production and assembly time was therefore a decisive factor in the commissioning.
The environmental permit was submitted at the end of 2014 and the first piles were placed in the ground by mid-April 2015. Subsequently, Voortman Steel Construction started to deliver and assemble the more than 750 tonnes steel structure. The entire construction was assembled in about 5 weeks. In addition, Voortman has also mounted the precast concrete elements for the dock levellers and parapets.
