The new year started for Voortman Design and Build with a new project: the construction of the business premises for Jaap Tempel in Groningen. The pile-driving work started at the beginning of January and recently, the festive kick-off took place. Voortman Design and Build takes care of the complete new construction, including the finishing, and coordinates the installation work. The client is responsible for the groundwork and the site layout.
The building, with a surface area of more than 2,100 square meters, has several distinctive features, such as a large glass curtain wall around the showroom and a cantilever above the entrance. Our partner 4D Architects created the design based on the wishes of our client. Voortman Design and Build arranged the permit application for the project. In close consultation with 4D Architects, we ensured that the design meets the municipality of Groningen aesthetics committee’s requirements. The size of the steel structure, which has been fully calculated by our engineers, has also been taken into account in the design.
Trading company Jaap Tempel bv sells and maintains both new and used earth-moving machines. The new building will have a showroom, offices and a large workshop with washing area. With several overhead doors of eight meters wide, overhead cranes and varying heights, the building is tailored to the work that will be carried out in it. Furthermore, it is fully equipped with floor heating, also in the workshop.
If construction proceeds according to plan, we will complete the new business premises for Jaap Tempel in August. At the moment, the preparatory work and the laying of the foundation are in full swing. The building will really take shape in March, when we will start building the steel structure. Thanks to our working method, in which we work out the project in detail in the preliminary phase, we save time in the construction phase. As a result, we are able to complete the construction in a short period of time.
