Sustainable mega-distribution centre in port of Rotterdam

On the Distribution Park Maasvlakte West in the port of Rotterdam, we are building a new distribution centre of approximately 30,000 square meters commissioned by Hercuton. Owner Busan Port Authority (BPA) will use this distribution centre for logistics services to companies doing business between Europe and South Korea.

With the ambition BREEAM Outstanding, BPA is going for a very sustainable building. In order to realize this ambition, the building is equipped with heat pumps, charging points for electric cars, energy-efficient lighting and water-saving facilities. Furthermore, the distribution centre will be gasless and energy neutral. To stimulate biodiversity around the building, ecological measures have been taken.

Hercuton took care of the design and engineering of the distribution centre. To match the surrounding dune landscape, a steel structure with a concrete plinth executed in natural tones was chosen. The completion is scheduled for the end of 2021.
