Assigned by Systabo B.V., Voortman Steel Construction supplies and assembles the 1,200 tonnes steel structure and the roof and wall cladding for the new distribution centre of parcel carrier DPD at the Westfields business park, to the northwest of Eindhoven.
The modern and multifunctional logistic building has a 88,000 m2 surface. The engineering department of Voortman elaborated the design of the steel structure into a complete 3D BIM model. The assembly of the steel structure and the roof and wall cladding takes place in two phases. Meanwhile, the steel structure of the hub is ready and the roof and wall cladding is now being fixed to it. At the same time, the steel structure of the depot is being assembled. According to the accurate planning for this project, the assembly of steel and cladding will be finished before the summer holiday.
DPD will take the new head office, also referred to as HUB Eindhoven, into use at the beginning of 2019. The hub is 24/7 operational and is equipped with a sorting machine which processes 50,000 packages an hour.
