Before long, Voortman Steel Construction will start building a new distribution centre of nearly 32,500 m2 on a business area in Tilburg (NL). Remmers Bouwgroep B.V. from Tilburg is the principal for this project.
At Remmers Bouwgroep the distribution centre is known as Logistic Excellence Tilburg. The building has a free height of 12.2 metres, 1,284 m2 office space and 2,766 m2 mezzanine. The excellent infrastructure and the location on the banks of the Wilhelmina Canal provide a fast connection with the large cities and harbours, both in the inland and abroad. The layout of the building is flexible, and can be set up completely according to the customer’s wish. It will be delivered with the BREEAM certificate ‘Very Good’.
Next to the steel structure of 1,100 tonnes, Voortman Steel Construction supplies and mounts the cladding of the building: 8,500 m2 wall cladding and 32,000 m2 roof cladding. Voortman will also mount all prefab concrete components, such as the concrete hollow core slabs of the storeys and the façade components. In this way, Voortman is able to include these activities in the engineering phase of the project. It was exactly this integral approach – from engineering up to and including the realisation – that made Remmers Bouwgroep outsource the job to Voortman. This method of working contributes to a shorter lead-time and as a result, a saving on the project costs.
